Lone Star 61, Arlington 28 — April 1868

From the Nashville Union and Dispatch, April 17, 1868:

“Edgefield and South Nashville.– In a match game of base ball yesterday, the Lone Star Club of Edgefield scored 61 to 28 by the Arlington, of South Nashville.”

  1. Do we know where the Edgefield team was from? By the Lone Star name I am wondering if they were from Texas. Thank you.

I don’t know if there was a Texas connection, but it’s quite possible the club was made up of native Texans living in the Nashville area. “Lone Star” was also a popular name for baseball clubs at the time, including one from New Orleans that visited Nashville at least once. But if I find anything else about this club I will post it.
